Cover Supervisor

Salary: Grade 3/4 -  £23 612 - £25 358 (£28 521 - £30 630 FTE)

Contract:Permanent

Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, term time only

The successful candidate must be able to teach either French or Spanish to KS5 and the other language to at least KS3. The ability of being dual linguist (both up to KS5) will be beneficial but not essential. The post is open to ECT’s or more experienced teachers.

This is a busy and varied role and involves a wide range of duties including: H&S, general maintenance and set up of rooms for events. The Site Team work on a rota basis including early and later shifts and some Saturday working.

The successful candidate will manage our Site team of five in providing excellent support in the smooth running of the school. Experience in a building maintenance trade is important, experience of working in an education environment would be desirable. CPD can be provided for the successful candidate.

The school is looking to recruit a Teacher of Science, preferably with Biology specialism, who could demonstrates their passion for their subject and a commitment to raising standards for all learners. We have excellent teaching facilities with dedicated Science labs and prep rooms, the department fully embrace new technologies to support teaching and learning.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to teach Biology, Chemistry and Physics at KS3 and KS4, and Biology to KS5, across the age and ability range. They will be fully supported by the department team and benefit from our excellent CPD programme.

About Glenthorne High School

Set in the London Borough of Sutton, the school converted to Academy status in 2011 and with its two sister schools, Abbey Primary and Aragon Primary, forms the Willow Learning Trust. Glenthorne High School is a comprehensive school with 1700 pupils on roll, from 11 to 19 years of age, and prides itself on a diverse, inclusive and supportive community.  Past Glenthorne pupils have been highly successful in securing Higher Education at Oxbridge and Russell Group universities and prestigious employment and apprenticeships.

Glenthorne is also the lead school for the Sutton Teaching Alliance and the Sutton SCITT, an outstanding provider of Primary and Secondary Initial Teacher Training.

The school is a centre of excellence in the arts and offers selected places to pupils who demonstrate both talent and aptitude in the arts. 

In addition, the school has an ASD Base with 26 pupils.  This department is well resourced, and pupils are integrated into the life of the school.
